Raw / Crudo: The World through the Eyes of a Teenage Poet
Featuring teen author, Andrea Rosario Tapia Villamil
Saturday, June 13
3:00pm - 4:00pm
Maplewood Memorial Library
Community RoomTweens, teens, and adults are invited to this moving, bilingual poetry reading by a 15 year old author and former Maplewood resident about her experiences living in Bolivia and Columbia.
Teen author and poet Andrea Rosario Tapia Villamil grew up in Maplewood, attended Seth Boyden School, then moved to Bolivia with her family. She currently lives in Columbia, South America where she now attends high school.
The poems in Andrea's new book of poetry Raw/Crudo, are an honest and raw expression of her personal experience of leaving behind family and friends in New Jersey while adapting to a new language and cultures. Her work is deeply inspired by and shaped by movement -- movement between countries, languages, and emotions. With a voice that is both observant and unfiltered, Andrea turns what she sees and hears into poetry that cuts deep.
Please join us in celebrating this amazing teenage poet, hear her read from her work, and learn more about the world as seen from many perspectives.
Copies of Andrea’s book Raw/Crudo will be available for sale at the event.
