Maplewood resident and co-founder of Mahjongistas, Jara Radom, invites you to discover the joy and strategy of American Mahjong. What began as a spark of inspiration to bring the game closer to home has since grown into one of Maplewood and South Orange’s most vibrant new social experiences, connecting local women through play, laughter, and community.
This four-lesson series is designed for beginners, offering a welcoming introduction to the game. Jara, a trained Mahjong teacher, will guide participants through the fundamentals: from understanding the tiles and National Mah Jongg League card to building confidence in recognizing hands and developing strategies.
Whether you’re brand new to Mahjong or simply curious to learn, these classes provide the perfect chance to pick up a new skill, meet neighbors, and connect over this centuries-old game of skill and luck.
