Take-and-Make: Grow Lion's Mane Mushrooms
Wednesday, July 15
All day
Maplewood Memorial Library
Teen Librarian Office, 2nd FloorPart of the Teen Summer Reading Program
"Unearth a Story" is the national summer reading theme for 2026. To that end, Maplewood Library's teen summer reading activities will focus on mysteries and secrets.
What grows in the dark, is soft like fur, and tastes kind of like lobster if you cook it right? A lion's mane mushroom! Lion's mane mushrooms (aka Hericium erinaceus) are high in protein, and they are used in cooking and in traditional Chinese medicine. For this take-and-make activity, you'll follow simple instructions to create a harvest of these fun fungi.
Register to claim your own mushroom growing kit. Supplies are limited.
