Design a Signature Symbol

Part of the Teen Summer Reading Program

"Unearth a Story" is the national summer reading theme for 2026. To that end, Maplewood Library's teen summer reading activities will focus on mysteries and secrets.

Whether it's the "Love Symbol" by Prince, the Wu-Tang Clan's classic stylized W, or the Bat Man signal projected into the sky, there's something pretty cool about tying a symbol to an artistic or even secret identity. In this workshop, taught by a local NJ artist, you'll design your own symbol and learn how to turn it into a stencil.

Please note that this workshop involves cutting cardboard and paper using craft knives, and it is therefore intended for older teens.
