Secret Compartment in a Book

Part of the Teen Summer Reading Program

"Unearth a Story" is the national summer reading theme for 2026. To that end, Maplewood Library's teen summer reading activities will focus on mysteries and secrets.

It doesn't get more mysterious than a secret compartment in a book. In this workshop, you'll hollow out pages in a book to create and decorate a secret compartment. There you can put items like notes, keys, or other small valuables.

Please note that this workshop involves cutting paper using craft knives, and it is therefore intended for older teens. Space and supplies are limited.
