A monthly book club on the first Tuesday of the month focusing on banned and challenged books

Why are books challenged or banned? What’s the difference? Can this happen here? Is there anything we can do about it? Maplewood Library’s Challenge Yours(h)elf Book Club will investigate these questions and more – all within the context of books that have been challenged or banned around the country. Some things may surprise you, some may not. Either way we promise lively and informative discussions each month!

The inaugural meeting of the Challenge Yours(h)elf Book Club will be Tuesday, October 6th, 6:45pm - 8pm and we’ll discuss Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner. 

Despite its popularity around the world, Hosseini's 2003 debut novel has been named one of the American Library Association’s “Top 10 Most Challenged Books” multiple times.
